Thom Wellman has selflessly served his community, the citizens of the County and their guests for the past 50 years. Thom started in the fire service in 1971 as a Paid-Call Firefighter in Forest Falls, eventually serving as the Forest Falls Fire Chief. Thom started his full-time professional firefighter career as a Battalion Chief for the then County Fire Agency, serving 24 years in the fire service before retiring as a Division Chief with San Bernardino County Fire Protection District in 2009.  He continues to serve his community while in retirement as a Paid-Call Firefighter.

Thom Wellman said, “I believe a great leader is a great servant, and that being a firefighter is a privilege and a calling from God.”

He was instrumental in assisting with the battle of the recent El Dorado Fire that threatened his hometown of Forest Falls, as well as the adjacent communities of Mountain Home Village and Angelus Oaks.

Thank you Thom for your dedication and unwavering service!
