The goal of the Public Education section is to provide residents and businesses useful information about preventing common causes of fires, accidents and injuries as well as helping to prepare residents for disasters.

On an average day, the San Bernardino County Fire Department responds to over 200 calls for service; many of these calls are preventable accidents or injuries. The San Bernardino County Fire Department may be able to assist you by providing a representative to give a presentation or staff a booth with safety information at a certain events. Due to the number of requests received each year the department must limit our participation to events put on by government organizations or those events that promote life & safety.

School Programs and Station Tours

The San Bernardino County Fire Department prides itself on being active in the communities we serve. We offer public education programs for schools and station tours.

  • For scheduling purposes, please contact us at least two weeks prior to your event.
  • We cannot provide personnel for private events or birthday parties.

Community Education and Outreach

Are you looking for someone to come speak to your group about fire safety or injury prevention or someone to provide information at a community event?

The San Bernardino County Fire Department may be able to assist you by providing a representative to give a presentation or staff a booth with safety information at a certain events. Please contact Office of the Fire Marshal Community Safety to speak with someone and see if your event is something we can help with.

Youth Fire Setter Intervention Program

The Youth Fire Setter Intervention Program (YFS) is aimed at reducing the number of fires and injuries caused by youths experimenting with fire. The program involves an intake interview with a youth fire setter interventionist and may be followed by an educational workshop that is held semi-annually or other referrals.

Fire Extinguisher Training

San Bernardino County Fire Department offers fire extinguisher training to businesses and groups in our area for a fee. This fee pays for the Trainer’s time and supplies. Fire extinguishers must be provided by the requestor. Training dates must be coordinated with a fire extinguisher servicing company so that extinguishers are immediately recharged after the training. Written proof, such as a work order or contract, must be available for inspection on or before the training date. Please contact the Office of the Fire Marshal Community Safety to make a request. Once your request is submitted, the San Bernardino County Fire Department will provide a quote for fees and schedule the training.
