Summary:

This afternoon San Bernardino County Fire crews were dispatched to a reported commercial fire in the 900 block of Inland Center Dr, San Bernardino. Callers stated an old radio station on fire.

Firefighters quickly arrived to find heavy smoke and fire showing from a vacant commercial building. The occupancy previously served as a radio station prior to becoming vacant. Arriving crews initiated a fire attack, working to limit the spread inside the building. Heavy smoke and fire conditions continued to build, quickly leading to a defensive strategy. Crews used aerial devices and numerous hand lines to suppress the fire. The fire was ultimately knocked down in approximately 40 minutes.

The building sustained heavy damage. All searches of the building came up negative. No injuries to firefighters or citizens were reported. Evidence of transient/squatter activity were found in the building. The fire remains under investigation by SBCoFD Fire Investigators.

San Bernardino County Fire responded with five Engines, two Truck Companies, two Chief Officers & a Fire Investigator.
