Summary:

Late last night San Bernardino County Fire crews were dispatched to a reported commercial structure near Yucca Trail and Joshua Lane, Yucca Valley. 911 callers stated apartments on fire.

Crews from nearby Fire Station 41 quickly arrived to find heavy fire showing from a vacant single story 10 unit apartment building. Firefighter initiated an aggressive attack working to stop lateral spread through the units and protect nearby exposures. Strong and erratic winds quickly pushed the fire through multiple units and created a significant ember cast. Firefighters utilized multiple hose lines and a ladder pipe to suppress the fire.

The fire was knocked down in approximately 35 minutes. Despite high winds firefighters were successful in limiting the fire damage to four units and no additional structures were damaged. Crews remained on-scene for multiple hours working on overhaul operations. A search of the apartment units came up negative. The fire remains under investigation by Fire Investigators. Evidence of transient and squatter activity was present in the occupancy. No injuries to firefighters or citizens were reported.

San Bernardino County Fire responded with three Engines, a Truck Company, Battalion Chief & a Fire Investigators. CALFIRE Yucca Valley assisted with an engine company.
