Incident: Three Alarm Commercial Fire

Summary:

This afternoon San Bernardino County Fire crews were dispatched to a reported commercial fire. 911 callers stated pallets on fire.

Firefighters arrived on-scene to find a large exterior fire involving stacks of pallets & multiple exposures immediately threatened. Due to the extent of fire & potential a second alarm was quickly requested. High winds & dry conditions pushed the fire through multiple properties. The fire also spotted into dry, receptive vegetation. CALFIRE sent a full response to assist with mitigating the vegetation fire.

The fire quickly grew to a third alarm, bringing more than 20 engines & 80 personnel to the scene. High tension power lines were also impacted by the fast moving fire, creating a hazard for firefighters. Edison was requested to mitigate the electrical hazard.

It took more than 2 hours to knock down the difficult fire. The wind driven fire pushed through multiple large lots. Firefighters were successful in saving multiple homes, vehicles & exterior items. The vegetation fire was held to 1/2 acre. One firefighters received minor burns & one firefighter was treated for heat related illness.

Thankfully both injuries were minor in nature. The fire remains under investigation by #SBCoFD Fire Investigators.

San Bernardino County Fire responded with 14 Engines, three Truck Companies, four Chief Officers, a Heavy Equipment team, two Water Tenders, and an Air/Light Unit. CALFIRE sent a full response. San Manuel & Rialto Fire also assisted with the fire. Thanks to the cooperating agencies for their assistance.
