WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Rep. Pete Aguilar announced $220,521.73 in federal funding for San Bernardino County Fire Protection District. This Assistance to Firefighter Grant funding through Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will ensure San Bernardino Country Fire is able to provide lifesaving care for the community they protect and support their crisis intervention team.
“Firefighters across the country work together with county, city and tribal officials to keep our communities are safe,” said Rep. Aguilar. “Our local fire departments have enough trained staff to ensure our residents are receiving the emergency care they need. I will keep working to secure the federal dollars necessary to help our firefighters protect our community.”
“Responding to over 130,000 calls for fire, rescue and EMS services annually, this funding will assist in putting more paramedics into the community to provide life-saving medical care,” said San Bernardino County Fire Department Chief Dan Munsey. “Our Peer Support Team is also a vital resource. The AFG allows an opportunity for additional crisis intervention training, ultimately expanding this program. We are grateful for Congressman Aguilar’s support in securing this grant and for his continuous efforts to improve public safety.”
The Assistance to Firefighters Grants Program provides fire departments and emergency medical service organizations with critical funding and resources to train emergency personnel and support community resilience.
