Location: Mountain Meadows Dr / Bermuda Dunes Rd, Spring Valley Lake
Incident: Structure Fire

Summary:

Reports of a possible structure fire in the vicinity of Mountain Meadows Drive and Bermuda Dunes, within the community of Spring Valley Lake, prompted a first alarm response from multiple high desert fire agencies. En route to the scene, a sizable plume of smoke was visible throughout the high desert.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a well-involved attached garage to a single-story home, with flames and pressurized smoke billowing from the structure. The fire appeared to have extended into the living space and attic with smoke coming from multiple attic vents and eaves. Deploying hose lines, firefighters initiated an exterior attack while additional crews arrived, allowing for entry to search for potential trapped victims and limit fire spread. Truck crews from Apple Valley and County Fire executed vertical ventilation, creating heat holes to relieve smoke and improve conditions for interior firefighting. Despite significant smoke and heat damage throughout the home, the main fire was contained to the garage, adjacent room, and the attic.

All occupants had successfully evacuated prior to arrival. The county response included two engines, one truck company, and a chief officer, with Victorville City providing assistance with one engine company and Apple Valley Fire District with one truck company. The fire is under investigation by the County Office of the Fire Marshal.

Safety Reminder: Ensure working smoke detectors in your home for early detection and swift evacuation. Your safety is our priority!
