Incident: Two Alarm Residential Fire
Summary:
Last night San Bernardino County Fire crews were dispatched to a reported residential structure fire in the area of Sheep Creek Rd & Plato Rd, El Mirage. Multiple 911 callers stated smoke and fire from a residence.
Firefighters arrived to find a large ranch style home with fire from multiple sides. Arriving crews worked from a defensive posture, working to limit the fires’ spread and keep the fire from spreading to adjacent vegetation The building, a 13,000 square foot, 35 bedroom occupancy was vacant at the time of the fire.
A second alarm was struck to bring additional firefighters & engines to the scene. No municipal water supply challenged crews as firefighters had to rely on a water shuttle operation to keep water flowing. Energized downed power lines were also found on-scene and created a hazard for firefighters.
The building sustained heavy damage as is considered a total loss. The fire was brought under control on approximately 90 minutes. Crews remained on scene for multiple hours working on salivate, overhaul and investigation. No firefighters or citizens were injured. The fire remains under investigation by Fire Investigators.
San Bernardino County Fire responded with six Engines, three Water Tenders, two Chief Officers & two Fire Investigators. Apple Valley Fire & Victorville each assisted with the incident.
