Incident: Two Alarm Commercial Fire

Summary:

Last night San Bernardino County Fire crews were dispatched to a reported commercial structure fire in the 5100 block of North 3rd Ave, San Bernardino. Numerous 911 callers stated an apartment on fire.

ME227 arrived on scene to find heavy fire and smoke from the first floor of a two-story apartment complex. Firefighters quickly deployed hose lines to suppress the fire, working to limit the fire to the first floor. Within minutes personnel found the well involved fire on the first flooring had extended to the second floor and attic space. Due to the fire involvement a second alarm was struck. Firefighter deployed to the first & second floor to work on evacuations, a fire attack and search for any potential victims. Truck crews ascended to the roof to work on vertical ventilation operations.

Within twenty minutes of arrival the fire was knocked down. Two apartments received fire damage and two additional received smoke & water damage. Firefighters were successful in saving two units and adjacent occupancies from fire damage. All searches of the apartments came up negative. No injuries to firefighters or citizens were reported. Red Cross was notified to assist seven displaced residents from the impacted apartments. The fire’s cause and origin is under investigation by #SBCoFD investigators.

San Bernardino County Fire responded with right Engines, two Truck Companies, three Chief Officers and a Fire Investigator.
