Incident: Two Alarm Commercial Fire

Summary:

This morning San Bernardino County Fire crews were dispatched to a reported commercial structure fire in the 700 block of North H Street, San Bernardino. 911 callers stated an apartment on fire.

Firefighters quickly arrived to find heavy smoke and fire showing from a two story multi-unit apartment complex. Crews initiated an aggressive fire attack, working both interior completing a fire attack, searching for victims and also on the roof performing vertical ventilation.

The call was balanced to a second alarm, bringing additional apparatus and personnel. Despite firefighters best efforts the fire extended from the second story to the common attic space. Firefighters on the roof utilized a “trench cut” to cut off the fire from spreading to additional apartment units.

The fire was ultimately knocked down in approximately 30 minutes. All searches of the apartment units came up negative. No injuries to firefighters or citizens were reported. Three apartment units received fire/smoke damage, three additional with smoke and water damage. More than 25 units were saved by firefighters. Red Cross was requested to assist with those displaced. The fire remains under investigation by #SBCoFD Investigators.

San Bernardino County Fire responded with 9 Engines, three Truck Companies, two Battalion Chiefs and a Fire Investigator.
