Location: 300 Block of West 6th Street, City of San Bernardino
Incident: Residential Fire

Early morning on May 2, 2021, crews were dispatched to a reported residential fire in the 300 block of West 6th Street, San Bernardino. Crews arrived to find a single-story home well involved in fire, with multiple exposures immediately threatened.

Arriving crews initiated a transitional attack, focusing their efforts on fire attack and protecting adjacent commercial properties immediately threatened by the fire. Once the exposure threat and force entry issues mitigated, crews entered the vacant home to attempt to complete a primary search. Ultimately interior and ventilation crews were pushed back by heavy fire and a collapsing roof. The fire was knocked down in approximately 30 minutes. Crews were successful in keeping the fire from spreading to multiple adjacent commercial occupancies.

The home, built in 1901, was vacant at the fire of the fire and sustained heavy damage. The fire appeared to have started outside, then extended to the interior of the home. Earlier in the day SBCoFD crews responded to the same address for a vehicle fire. San Bernardino County Fire Investigators are investigating both fires.
