The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) awarded the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District (SBCoFD) a $500,000 Direct Award Grant as part of CAL FIRE’s Community Wildfire Prevention and Mitigation Program. This grant will support a vital hazardous fuels reduction project aimed at increasing the protection of communities, structures, and people in fire-threatened areas.
The Direct Award Grant recognizes County Fire’s exceptional ability to develop and implement projects aligned with CAL FIRE’s Community Wildfire Prevention and Mitigation Program.
The grant will be allocated towards a hazardous fuels reduction project that includes Chipping Days, Vegetation Management, and Roadside clearance in various fire-prone areas, such as Lake Arrowhead, Crestline, Running Springs, Waterman Canyon, Angelus Oaks, Oak Glen, Wrightwood, and Mt. Baldy. This initiative aims to mitigate the risk of wildfires and enhance wildfire prevention planning and education in these vulnerable communities.
All project and activity work associated with the grant must be completed by March 30, 2025. The San Bernardino County Fire Protection District expresses its gratitude to CAL FIRE for their support in enhancing the wildfire prevention efforts in the region and protecting the well-being of residents and properties.
