This morning eight San Bernardino County Fire Department (SBCoFD) Engineers were officially promoted to the rank of Fire Captain. The new Fire Captains were pinned by #SBCoFD executive staff and their families. The promotion follows a competitive testing process where candidates were tested on fire simulations, an oral test component and a final interview.
“We are so proud of you and excited to support you in your new position” says San Bernardino Fire Chief Dan Munsey, while speaking to the group of new Captains. Fire Captains are tasked with leading an engine or truck company and can supervise up to seven personnel each shift at their respective fire station.
The new Fire Captains start a two-week orientation where they will hone their skills on leadership, operations, administrative processes and personnel management. Collectively they bring more than 130 years of experience to their new rank. They will also complete multiple “shadow shifts,” working directly with veteran captains at busy fire stations.
