Vehicle Fire Causes Vegetation Fire

This afternoon, San Bernardino County Fire Crews responded to a vehicle fire on the shoulder of the 15 freeway in the Cajon Pass.

Upon arrival the first due engine company found a vehicle engulfed in flames and nearby brush catching fire as well. With high temperatures and an afternoon upcanyon breeze, the fire started burning upslope at a moderate rate. The incident was quickly upgraded to a full vegetation response and notifications were made to our strategic partners. As the vehicle fire was extinguished, San Bernardino County Fire Crews along with

crews quickly assisted the

resources since the fire had now entered the San Bernardino National Forest. All three agencies have cultivated strong relationships built on being mission oriented regardless of jurisdictional boundaries for many years.

The fire was held to 12 acres.

One firefighter was transported to a local hospital with a heat related issue and no civilian injuries were reported.
