Incident: Two Alarm Residential Fire
Summary:
Tuesday afternoon San Bernardino County Fire crews were dispatched to a reported residential fire near North F Street & West 10th Street, San Bernardino. Multiple 911 callers stated a garage on fire spreading to vehicles and adjacent homes.
Fire crews arrived with four minutes of dispatch to find heavy fire conditions from a garage with extension to two homes. Due to the fire involvement a second alarm was immediately struck. Arriving firefighters initiated an aggressive fire attack, working to protect nearby exposures, suppress the large fire & search the homes for potential victims inside the homes.
Heavy fire conditions & smoke conditions were found inside one home & truck crews ascended to the roof to work on vertical ventilation. Truck crews were able to limit fire in a portion of the attic, coordinating their efforts with firefighters inside.
Firefighters were able to knock the fire down within 30 minutes of arrival. One garage was destroyed, one garage damaged, two homes damaged & two cars also burned in the fire. Despite the damage, firefighters were successful in saving multiple homes & limiting the fire’s spread in the affected residences. A total of eight people were displaced by the fire. Red Cross was requested to assist those impacted by the fire. One civilian received minor injuries and was treated on-scene by an AMR Ambulance. No other injuries were reported to firefighters or citizens. Fire investigators responded for a cause & origin investigation. The fire remains under investigation.
San Bernardino County Fire responded with eight Engines, two Truck Companies, an Air/Light Unit, three Chief Officers & two Fire Investigators. American Medical Response responded with a paramedic ambulance.
