Location: 62200 block of Hacienda Dr, Joshua Tree
Incident: Residential Fire
Summary:
Last night at 10:10PM San Bernardino County Fire crews were dispatched to a reported structure fire in the area of Sunburst x Cummings Way, Joshua Tree. ME36 quickly arrived in the area to find heavy smoke and fire conditions from a single story home in the 62200 block of Hacienda Dr, Joshua Tree.
Crews initiated a fire attack, working to stretch hose lines & suppress the well involved fire. Extremely windy conditions quickly pushed the fire through the home, causing a significant ember cast and threat to multiple outbuildings, vehicles and surrounding vegetation. Sustained winds at 20MPH gusts with gusts over 40MPH made suppression efforts challenging. Ultimately the fire was knocked down within 30 minutes of arrival. Firefighters were successful in keeping the fire to the structure itself and out of surrounding vegetation.
Despite firefighters best efforts, the home sustained heavy damages and is uninhabitable. Three parties were out of the home prior to our arrival and will be displaced by the fire. Two goats were killed in the fire. Multiple animals were injured, including two dogs and three pigs. Animal control was requested to assist the residents with their animals.
The fire cause and origin is under investigation by #SBCoFD Investigators. San Bernardino County Fire responded with 4 Engines, a Battalion Chief and two Fire Investigators.
