SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, CA – Off-Road Dirt Bike Accident Victim Rescued

San Bernardino National Forest, CA – This morning, San Bernardino County Fire Protection District crews responded to a dirt bike accident that occurred deep in the National Forest close to Silverwood Lake. Crews were assisted by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and the U.S. Forest Service – San Bernardino National Forest. The injured rider had sustained a moderate lower leg injury. Since the accident occurred in such an extremely remote area, the decision was made to utilize a helicopter with hoisting capabilities to safely remove the rider.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff Department Air Rescue unit was called in to perform the operation. The ship typically carries two #SBCoFD paramedics on board that assist with patient care. In addition to the helicopter, two engine companies, one ambulance, one battalion chief, one patrol unit, one public information officer, and an all-terrain response vehicle (ARV) responded to the scene.

The San Bernardino County Fire Protection District reminds off-road riders to ride with a buddy, wear full protective gear, carry a charged phone, and know your location.
