San Bernardino, CA – Early this morning, San Bernardino County Fire Protection District crews responded to a reported structure fire on the 1300 block of East Marshall Boulevard in the City of San Bernardino. The call came in at approximately 1:26 a.m., reporting an apartment building on fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire conditions involving portions of the first floor and the entirety of the second floor of a vacant garden-style apartment structure. Due to severe damage to the stairway, crews were forced to breach walls with power saws and hand tools to gain access to the interior of the second story to continue suppression efforts.

Thanks to the quick actions of firefighters, the fire was confined to the involved structure and prevented from spreading to nearby buildings. There were no injuries reported among civilians or firefighters.

A total of four engine companies, one truck company, one medic squad, one battalion chief, one fire investigator, and one public information officer responded to the incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the San Bernardino County Fire Office of the Fire Marshal.
