The San Bernardino County Fire Protection District has submitted its preliminary application to the State of California Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation (OHMVR) Division for the 2026 Grant Cycle.
Public Review Period:
March 3, 2026 – May 4, 2026 (closes at 5:00 PM)
This year’s application includes OHV recreation areas managed by the Barstow Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Field Office within San Bernardino County, including:
- Dumont Dunes
- El Mirage
- Rasor Dunes
- Johnson Valley
- Stoddard Valley
What the Grant Supports
The primary intent of this grant is to fund the pre-positioning of firefighters and paramedics — including Advanced Life Support personnel — during peak holiday periods at Dumont Dunes Recreation Area, including:
- Halloween
- Veterans Day
- Thanksgiving
- New Year’s
- Martin Luther King Jr. Day
- Presidents Weekend
Grant funding would also support additional necessary operational, logistical and administrative costs to maintain safe and effective operations in these remote, high-use areas.
