Summary:
Monday evening SBCoFD crews were dispatched to a reported commercial structure fire in the 1700 block of Date Ave, San Bernardino. 911 callers stated an apartment on fire.
Firefighters quickly arrived on-scene to find smoke and fire showing from one unit of a large two-story apartment complex. Crews quickly deployed hose lines to suppress the fire, performing an interior fire attack. Arriving personnel deployed to adjacent apartments and to the roof to ensure the fire had not spread past the initial fire unit.
Within 10 minutes of arrival the fire was knocked down. Firefighters were successful in limiting the spread to only one apartment unit, saving multiple nearby units. All searches of the apartment came up negative. Red Cross was requested to assist with five displaced occupants. The fire is under investigation by SBCoFD Investigators.
San Bernardino County Fire responded with five Engines, two Truck Companies, a Squad, Battalion Chief & a Fire Investigator.
