On June 16, 2025, #SBCoFD crews responded to a reported motor home fire at a towing company’s impound lot in San Bernardino. Upon arrival, firefighters found a fully involved motor home, along were several vehicles involved with fire as well.

The incident presented several unique challenges for responding crews. Due to the location of the lot to the rear of the property, there was no nearby fire hydrants. A water shuttling operation was used to supply the necessary water and was augmented by a water tender that was added to the assignment. In addition, heavy security measures and limited access points made entry into the lot difficult. Crews had to force entry in certain areas of the lot to suppress the flames and protest surrounding exposures. Complicating the operation further, a downed power line dropped down into the fire area, posing additional hazards for firefighters working in nighttime conditions.

Despite these challenges, firefighters were able to contain the fire to that section of the lot and prevent it from spreading. A total of 17 personnel responded, including four engine companies and a water tender, as well as a battalion chief, a public information officer, and an arson investigator. One engine company was provided by Cal Fire. No injuries to civilians, guard dogs, or firefighters were reported.

The cause of the fire is now under investigation by the San Bernardino County Fire Office of the Fire Marshal.
