Fire Hazard Severity Zone Map

The State Fire Marshal is responsible for identifying moderate, high, and very high fire hazard severity zones based on consistent statewide criteria and based on the severity of fire hazard that is expected to prevail in those areas. As part of this requirement, CAL FIRE has made recommendations for Local Responsibility Areas (LRA). All State Responsibility Areas were addressed in 2024.

On June 10, 2025, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors, acting as the governing body of the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District, adopted Ordinance No. 4489 designating the Fire Hazard Severity Zones in the Local Responsibility Areas of the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District, State of California in accordance with Government Code Sections 51178, 51179, and 51177(e), which was introduced on May 20, 2025, Item No. 109.

This ordinance designates Fire Hazard Severity Zones within the Local Responsibility Areas under the District’s jurisdiction. You can view the map via the link below or at our Administrative Office, located at San Bernardino County Fire Protection District Headquarters, 598 S Tippecanoe Ave, San Bernardino, CA 92408, during posted business hours.

Please note that state law prohibits the Fire District from assigning a fire hazard severity zone that is less restrictive than the one recommended by the State Fire Marshal.
