Summary:
Last night San Bernardino County Fire crews were dispatched to a reported structure fire in the area of Piñon Dr & Twentynine Palms Highway, Yucca Valley. Multiple 911 callers stated a large fire on the hillside.
Firefighters arrived to find an abandoned two-story home fully involved in fire. Crews initiated a defensive attack working to suppress the fire, protect a nearby exposure and keep the fire from spreading to adjacent vegetation. Despite an extremely long supply hose lay and a large fire, crews were successful in keeping the fire from spreading to the nearby exposures. The fire was knocked down in approximately 20 minutes.
The home, which appeared vacant and abandoned was a total loss. No injuries to firefighters or citizens were reported. The fire remains under investigation by SBCoFD Arson Investigators.
San Bernardino County Fire crews responded with three Engines, a Medic Ambulance, Battalion Chief and a Fire Investigator.
