Summary:
This afternoon San Bernardino County Fire crews were dispatched to a reported commercial fire in the 100 block of South E Street, San Bernardino. Multiple 911 callers stated a vacant auto repair building was on fire.
Firefighters quickly arrived to find heavy smoke and fire conditions from a large vacant commercial occupancy. Arriving crews initiated a defensive fire attack, utilizing large volumes of water to suppress the fire. The building, which has burned multiple times prior had multiple hazards inside, including fall hazards. Train and vehicle traffic was halted temporarily while supply lines stretched across tracks and the road.
Once the fire was knocked back, crews completed searches of the building. No occupants were found inside. Firefighter’s remained on scene for multiple hours working on overhaul and investigation. The fire remains under investigation by #SBCoFD investigators. Evidence of transient activity was noted inside the vacant occupancy. No injuries to firefighters or citizens were reported.
San Bernardino County Fire responded with six Engines, two Trucks, two Battalion Chiefs and a Fire Investigator.
