San Bernardino County Fire Protection District (SBCoFD) is pleased to announce the receipt of a significant grant award in the amount of $236,613 from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program. The grant, provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), aims to support fire departments and nonaffiliated emergency medical service organizations in meeting their firefighting and emergency response needs.
The AFG program has been instrumental since 2001 in helping firefighters and first responders acquire critical equipment, protective gear, training, and additional resources necessary to safeguard the public and emergency personnel from fire-related hazards.
County Fire plans to utilize these funds, in conjunction with a matching amount of $35,492 (15% of the federal contribution) from the Fire District, to deliver advanced Urban Search and Rescue and Hazardous Materials training courses to its personnel..
This grant award will greatly enhance the Fire District’s capacity to provide advanced training and ensure the safety of both the public and emergency personnel during fire and hazardous incidents.
