Summary:

This morning San Bernardino County Fire was dispatched to a residential structure fire in the 2800 block of North Seine Ave, San Bernardino.

Crews quickly arrived to find smoke and fire showing from the attic space of a single story home. Firefighters forced entry, initiated a fire attack and a search of the home. They encountered heavy smoke conditions and multiple interior doors that were barricaded by furniture and other heavy objects.

During the search, one adult male was located and rescued. Firefighter-paramedics immediately initiated advanced life support care on-scene. An ambulance arrived, and the patient was transported in critical condition to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The fire was knocked down in approximately 20 minutes.

As smoke conditions improved, firefighters found multiple items of concern inside the home. As a precaution firefighters exited the home and awaited fire investigators and law enforcement personnel. San Bernardino Police Department and San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Bomb/Arson detail responded, and the investigation is ongoing. No evacuations were instituted, and there is no threat to the community. The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation.

No injuries to firefighters or civilians were reported. A quick response & mitigation of the fire played a crucial role in limiting additional threats and damage.
