October 8, 2009 – A wildland fire dubbed the "Sheep Fire" started October 3rd at the north end of Lytle Creek and quickly spread north towards the community of Wrightwood. The fire consumed 7,128 acres and destroyed or damaged five structures. Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading into Wrightwood. The fire is now 85% contained, with full containment expected October 10th.
